The Church Triumphant has finally discovered ChatGPT, and the results are nothing short of miraculous. Pastors everywhere say their churches now have an artificial intelligence ministry. Apparently, the Holy Spirit was taking too long to answer emails.
“We asked ChatGPT to write our mission statement,” one Pastor explained proudly. “It gave us something about transforming lives through faith, community and purpose. It was beautiful, then we asked it to make it sound more evangelical.”
The new mission statement now reads: Transforming lives through faith, community, purpose, spiritual warfare, and a limited-time opportunity to give online.
Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) members are thrilled and are using it to write prayer requests. For instance, “Please pray for Sister Linda.” ChatGPT replied, saying that Linda may be experiencing “a season of relational turbulence.” Translated, her husband left her for a Pilates instructor.
Even the prayer chain has been upgraded. Members now ask ChatGPT to generate prayers in the appropriate emotional tone.
“Can you make it more urgent?”
“Certainly.”
“More Southern Baptist?”
“Of course.”
“Add a little persecution.”
“Absolutely.”
This will all ultimately lead to an AI-powered altar call. When the organ begins playing, ChatGPT will analyze each person’s facial expression and send a personalized text:
“Jesus loves you. And based on your giving history, He has placed a burden on your heart to increase your monthly offering.”
And that’s when the congregations will finally understand the true promise of artificial intelligence:
It can finally do what the church has been trying to do for 2,000 years—make you feel like God personally wants your money.
